2008 Top Tier alum, and current Michigan State Spartan Tony Bucciferro was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week yesterday after shutting out Minnesota last weekend. The former Minooka HS standout has been an anchor of the Michigan State weekend rotation since his freshman year when he won 5 games while logging 71 innings over 14 appearences (11 starts). This spring in 8 starts, Tony is 6-1 with a team leading 2.08 ERA; in 57 innings Bucciferro has 29 strikeouts and only 8 walks, while limiting opponents to a .237 BAA and 7 extra base hits.
After two midweek games against Oakland University on Tuesday, April 12, the first place Spartans (20-7, 5-1) will travel to Columbus, OH for a pivotal 3 game set against the Ohio State Buckeyes (11-14, 3-3).
