Dan Mayer, a player on the Top Tier 17u team, has committed to play at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. Mayer, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound two-way talent, who is currently ranked No. 7 in Illinois’ PBR Class of 2013.
Mayer was a standout performer at the Prep Baseball Report Midwest Future Games, powered by Under Armour, in August. The physical right-hander impressed with his easy 85-88 mph fastball, coupled with a sharp breaking ball and changeup. Offensively, Mayer was the only player at the event to hit a home run in game competition with wood.
Mayer joins Kevin Smith as the second junior to commit from Top Tier and is the sixth junior prospect to commit off Team Illinois’ Midwest Future Games’ roster.
