Some former Top Tier standouts were in the news this week including a professional player and two Clemson University transfers.

Former Top Tier standout Joe Benson was featured in the news this week by Baseball America. Benson was listed as the #2 overall prospect in the Twins farm system. The talented player is described as an explosive athlete with tremendous upside.

Jeremy Scheck, who played with Top Tier from 2008-2010, has transferred from Clemson University and will attend the University of Illinois. The 6-foot, 185-pound Stevenson HS graduate will be eligible to play for the Illini next spring.

Scheck, who features an upper-80s fastball, missed his senior season at Stevenson after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Prior to his injury, Scheck was a top 10 prospect in Illinois’ Class of 2011.

Jon Surber, who played with Top Tier from 2008-2010, has also transferred from Clemson University and will be attending John A Logan JC. Surber helped lead Top Tier to a 2009 CABA World Series Championship.
