Few players in the Class of 2010 enjoyed a more productive summer than Shane Conlon. The LHP/1B accumulated accolades while helping lead his team to championships. Conlon put the finishing touches on his summer by committing to Kansas State, and announcing that he is transferring high schools.
Conlon, who helped St. Rita to a Class 4A state runner-up finish and a summer state championship, has announced that he is transferring to Naperville Central HS. The 6-foot, 180-pound Conlon lives in Naperville Central’s school district and has grown up playing with many of the Naperville Central team members. Last season, Naperville Central advanced to the supersectionals with a junior-dominated team. With Conlon in the mix, the RedHawks have the talent to win its second state crown in five years.
Not to be overshadowed by the transfer, Conlon, who's one of the top players in the class, also made his college commitment recently, selecting Kansas State in the Big 12.
As a junior, Conlon went 9-1, including a state-semifinal shutout, and tallied 16 doubles and four homers at the plate for St. Rita. He also earned all tournament team in the Phil Lawler Summer Classic, as he pitched the Mustangs to victory in the title game. He also was named MVP of the CABA World Series in Euclid, Ohio, after he helped lead Top Tier to the championship.
